Marine Information Safety Bulletin - Port of Key West

Tropical Storm Fay

MIAMI - Effective 12:00 a.m. Monday, Hurricane Condition ZULU (sustained Gale Force winds from a hurricane force storm are predicted within 12 hours) is set for the Port of Key West, Fla.

The Captain of the Port has established a safety zone for the Port of Key West. No vessel may enter or transit within the safety zone without the permission of the Captain of the Port. All vessel movements are prohibited at this time, and all ship-to-shore operations must cease.

  • All port waterfront operations are suspended with the exception of final preparations as expressly permitted by the Captain of the Port to ensure the safety of the ports and facilities.
  • Coast Guard Port Survey teams will conduct final port assessments. 

Effective 6:00 a.m. Monday, the following bridges will be locked in the down position until further notice: Card Sound Road toll bridge in the Upper Keys and the drawbridges at Snake Creek in Islamorada, Fla., and Jewfish Creek, in Key Largo, Fla.
