Clipper Pacific Remains in Tampa TAMPA, Fla. - The Bahamian flagged cruise ship Clipper Pacific remains in the Port of Tampa after arriving Monday for structural repairs and safety examinations following a detention in New York. The Coast Guard continues to work with Bahamian authorities and Bureu Veritas, the vessel's classification society, to ensure the Clipper Pacific meets all applicable international and domestic safety and security standards. Repairs to the vessel included the replacement of a 5-foot by 6-foot section of the hull and additional repairs to the vessel's internal structure. While the vessel is undergoing repairs, more than 900 Clipper Pacific passengers are staying in local area hotels. Passengers cannot stay aboard the ship until its crew submits a Coast Guard approved Emergency Evacuation Plan, which must also be approved by local fire and rescue and other organizations. ###
