ANCLOTE ISLAND, Fla. - Coast Guard Station Sand Key medically evacuated two people after a vessel collision one-nautical-mile north of Anclote Island at about 7 a.m. July 27.

ANCLOTE ISLAND, Fla. - Two vessels suffered major damage when a pleasure craft collided with an anchored sailing vessel near Anclote Island. Coast Guard Station Sand Key, Fla., immediately launched a 25-foot rescue boat and arrived on scene at about 6 a.m. Station Sand Key medevaced Andy Johns, 43, of Lutz, Fla., who was suffering from a possible broken ankle, and William Henry Good Jr., 55, of Yalaha, Fla., who was suffering from a head laceration. The two were taken to Pasco County EMS at the Anclote boat ramp.
A Pasco County Marine Unit and two Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) marine units were also on scene to assist the injured boaters.
The owner and operator of the pleasure craft, Richard Smith, 38, and passengers Lance Hammer, 36, Jimmy Stewart, 44, and Bryant Webb, 48, all from Lutz, along with the passenger from the sailing vessel, Sandra Good, 58, of Yalaha, were transferred from the vessels by FWC officials for questioning.
Sea Tow salvaged the pleasure craft and towed it to Anclote boat ramp. The sailing vessel was later brought in by its owner.
