ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Coast Guard Cutter Venturous, homeported in St. Petersburg, Fla., hosted Boy Scout Troop 100, from Sarasota, Fla., August 26. This unique visit allowed the eager Scouts to earn their Civil Service merit badges by touring the Venturous, learning about the U.S. Coast Guard and exploring the services the Coast Guard and its members provide to the public.

After the Scouts had climbed all over the cutter, ran out of questions and dutifully earned their badges, the troop had a chance to have their photo taken in front of the cutter to finish off the day.
"The boys were amazed that 80 people live aboard the ship," said Sean Griffin, Troop 100 Scout Leader. "The troop really enjoyed the tour, and we were impressed with the adventurous life you live serving our country in the U.S. Coast Guard."
